Senator Claire McCaskill meets MMHCA President, Steve Moncher, and President Elect, Peggy Hughes in her office in Washington D.C. during the AMHCA "Day on the Hill" event at AMHCA's Leadership Training in July.

MMHCA sponsored two of it's officers to attend the Leadership Training that was held in conjuction with the AMHCA Annual Conference in Washington D.C. in July this year.  Approximately 70 chapter leaders from over 30 states attended this year's event which was highlighted by a "Day on the Hill".  Training participants were given direction on the basics of lobbying their legislators and background on an important piece of legislation to get Medicare to recognize LPCs as providers (see Legislation and Policy).  The participants took the day to visit the Senate office building and Steve and Peggy were able to meet with staffers for both of our Senators to advocate for passage of S. 671, sponsored by Sen. Blanche Lincoln.  While meeting in Sen. McCaskill's office with her staff the meeting happened to coincide with a regular breakfast "meet and greet" that the Senator hosts weekly.
