As President of MMHCA, I would like to welcome you to MMHCA!   I am excited about what MMHCA is doing to support our LPC’s.  This organization is working hard as an advocate for our profession so we can, therefore, advocate for our clients.  For years, this organization has been working to protect our rights to diagnose and be recognized in the field of mental health as viable mental health professionals.  With us uniting together, we can make a difference in our profession.  If you know other LPC’s that are not aware of the work MMHCA is doing, please encourage them to go to our web site and join with us in this charge.

MMHCA not only is an advocate for our profession but also provides continued learning and growth through workshops and annual conferences.  MMHCA sponsors several workshops, including the Supervision workshop that will be held in September which fulfills the Missouri requirements for LPC’s  interested in supervising.   Our conference will offer a wide range of topics that equip us to further educate ourselves in the counseling spectrum and while offering affordable CEU’s!

As counselor’s, it is important for us to be informed of what is going on professionally from a local and state level and this MMHCA newsletter will keep you up to date. Our newsletter provides you with all the information on upcoming events, news from the licensing board as well as an article on the AHMCA ethic standards.  I hope this will be a valuable resource for you.

In closing, I want to thank our new board members for 2010.  We had some topnotch candidates that ran this year and we are eager to get every one involved with MMHCA board.  Joining us as President-Elect is Marsha Andreoff and Brent Gilstrap is our new Secretary.   Our student representatives are:  Terry Patterson, Colleen Murray and Brenda Swift.  Our next board meeting will be held October 28^th, at 11:30 at the MMHCA conference.  We would love to see you there.
