The President's Corner

Greetings and welcome to the MMHCA website and your professional organization. It is an honor to serve Counselors and their Clients with the work that we do. During this year, I hope that we can continue to focus on the idea of helping the people we serve through advocacy.  Advocacy has three elements that make it an effective tool to stand up for others. The first part of this is to learn how to be your own advocate, through CEU's and professional information via our own organization, so that the  general public has a better understanding of our own diversity and competencies.

The second, is the need to advocate for our own profession, explaining to others how Professional Counseling provides a cost-effective means toward mental health and well-being (the AMHCA website has a great page on this idea). The third, and most important, is that we are the advocates for our Clients. There are few activities that we can do for others that are as meaningful as when we stand next to someone who is hurting and support them with our professional abilities. Join us this year and together let us look at the ways we can speak for those who have but a little voice.
