AI in Clinical Practice: Making Technology Work for You
Artificial intelligence is here. In the year 2025 alone we saw an exponential increase in AI use, both by providers and clients. The goal of this presentation is to share the impact of technology on the profession and explore ethical ways for professional counselors to consider how AI may impact them and their clients. We will explore how counselors can use AI to their benefit, with examples. We will also consider how clients can get mental health support from AI and evaluate the resources available. Finally, the ethical considerations for various scenarios will be discussed.
Learning Objectives
1. Identify and explore 3 ways AI might be used by counselors.
2. Examine and evaluate at least 2 AI supports clients might access.
3. Understand and apply Section H of the ACA code of ethics as the various AI technologies are discussed.
